About The Science of Violence

We are a small group of technology professionals and lifelong combat sports fans who thought it would be fun to build the kind of independent MMA magazine we wanted to read.

The Science of Violence covers mixed martial arts, striking, grappling, training, and gear. We write for people who enjoy understanding how the sport works: why a technique succeeds, how training choices affect performance, what makes equipment useful, and why a matchup matters beyond the headline.

Why We Built This Site

Combat sports combine athleticism, strategy, discipline, and problem-solving in a way few other sports can match. We believe MMA is the best sport in the world, but we also know that enthusiasm is not a substitute for accuracy. Our goal is to make useful, readable MMA education without manufactured outrage or empty hype.

How We Approach Our Work

We treat combat sports as regulated athletic competition. Our training content is intended for responsible practice under qualified coaching, with appropriate protective equipment, consent, and respect for gym rules and local laws. We do not promote street violence or the misuse of combat techniques.

When we cover news, we identify and link to our sources. When we discuss equipment, we explain the criteria behind our recommendations and distinguish firsthand observations from manufacturer information or editorial research. We correct material errors when we find them.

Independent and Reader Supported

The Science of Violence is independently operated. Some pages may contain affiliate links, which can earn the site a commission without increasing the price paid by the reader. Commercial relationships do not determine our conclusions, and we disclose affiliate relationships where they appear.
